Salads, Juices and a Cozy Cafe

Recently, all around, I have seen a surge in health cafes and clubs – restaurants, cafes and outlets offering tastier options of healthy food to the customers who not only want to have guilt-free delights, but also want to be doing the ‘in’ thing. And healthy cafes are the ‘in’ thing.

One such cafe at the Chakli Circle or Bird Circle, to sound more hep; is Moshic, a cozy little cafe in a little bylane between Barista and Dalsons. The interiors are beautifully done, and the water fountain wall on the side makes it an even more pleasant place to hang out. It also has outdoor seating under square umbrellas for those who prefer the natural breeze to the artificial winds of the air conditioning or find the evenings and mornings outside really pleasant to spend outdoors.

I entered the cafe and made my way to the table. I wanted to sit on the couches, but thanks to being quite severely sleep deprived, I decided against it. I didn’t want to end up snoring on a couch in a cafe. So, I choose a nice wooden chair and settle in. There was a group of women there for a birthday party, they were really quite noisy and that spoilt my experience considerably. As customers anywhere, we need to be mindful of others around too.

I ordered three things – an Aloo Tikki salad, a Hara Bhara Kebab salad and a Citrus Blow juice. I am not a health freak, not one bit. So, if something is interesting enough to make me try it, that’s a victory. Juices are still good wit me, salads, well, you know what I mean.

The service was really quite slow and my order took an eternity to arrive. I am guessing it could be because of the ongoing birthday party. There were two more men who came at the same time as I did, they were at the end of their patience and were about leaving. It was about well past 30-45 minutes since we ordered.

Finally, the order arrived. The juice came first. The Citrus Blow juice packed the punches of Apple, Pineapple and Orange with mint leaves on the top in Rs. 129. The juice separates which would generally be the tendency when pineapples and apples are used. But overall, the juice was great. No fibers sticking in the glass or irritating me with their unwanted presence. It had a unique flavour and a good balance so no flavour or fruit was overpowering the others. Good one. I would prefer a little more tangyness, the refreshing breath of orange seemed lost in the lanes of apples and pineapples.

Aloo Tikki Salad and Hara Bhara Kebab salad were the same, except the former was topped with Aloo tikki pieces while the latter with Hara Bhara Kebab pieces. There was diced cabbage, cucumbers, jalapenos, pieces of capsicums and bell peppers, all tossed in the dressing with basil and parsley. I was asked to mix the salad properly before consumption, which I did diligently. I had requested them to be a little on the spicier side. It was adequately spicy. Lots of cabbages. I would have preferred some more colour in the dishes. May be some carrots, some corn, some red cabbage. Overall, good salads.

Will I go there next time, well, yes, of course. And the next time I am there I would want to try their signature wafer thin pizzas.
