The perfect Meal Replacer

Life has become quite busy, and living alone ain’t easy. One of the biggest problem of living alone, is having to cook for yourself, which is such a bore. At times, it is fun, it is enjoyable, but everyday, nope, not at all. A long day at work further kills any little wish I might have to cook or to cook and carry along a meal. Moreover, I love travelling, so often, I am up on the mountains or in some place, where either I am not very keen to dig into what’s available, or there is nothing available at all to eat.

And there I bumped into something – myDaily. It’s a perfectly engineered meal replacement shake. Mom has tried to push me on to meal replacers before, and I never honestly liked them a lot. Instead of curbing my hunger, I would feel even more hungry after having that nasty powdery milk shake, and it was always a herculean task to dissolve the powder, even in hot water. So, imagine my wariness about this whole thing.

But not thinking that I need to lose weight (which I really need to, of course!), and keeping all my previous experiences out of my mind, I decided to try out one pouch of myDaily. How bad could it be, I thought?

Imagine my surprise, when the packet said it has to be dissolved in 350ml cold water. Woa! Cold water. I thought to myself, oh God, would I need a blender and all that nonsense now! But then I thought that myDaily has been is meant for people in office or those travelling, and the like, they definitely don’t have the time or resources to use a blender and all that. So, I pour out the chocolate flavored powder in my shaker glass. It is a fine powder. I dip in my finger and lick up some. It seems good, melts on the tongue. Then I pour in the prescribed chilled water, 350ml. My glass already has markings for volume, so I pour it all in. Close the lid and shake it for a few seconds. It’s a leakproof glass, so once the stoppers are up, there’s nothing to worry about. As I shake it, I see the powder doesn’t clump, it easily dissolves into the chilled water. 10-15 seconds later, I open my glass, and boom! there is no undissolved powder, no clumps, it all got it.

I sip it up. It’s like a delicious chocolate milkshake. I gulp down the whole thing in small, small sips. I don’t want it to feel like touch and go, so I relax and have it. A lot depends on the mindset as well. Nutrition-wise, this looks perfect, it has everything I need from my diet. It tastes good, is easy to dissolve, and easy to carry. All I need, is a glass, some cold water, and that’s it. We generally carry a water bottle with us where we go, or have one around, say in office. myDaily is nicely packed, so, it is very easy to carry. Each pouch is a perfect meal-size, so no need to weigh or measure or anything, one pouch is all you need to carry with you. Pour the contents out, add in the water, shake and drink. The simplicity and ease of the whole thing is what has me hooked. A lot of times, I am drowned beneath the whole load of work, or am traveling and can’t find anything good to eat, and I generall settle for whatever junk I can get my hands on – vadapao, puff, frankie, and the like. At such times, one meal replacement shake is a lifesaver, and ensures that I eat healthy.
